The second round of stimulus checks, also called Economic Impact Payments, has been approved as part of the COVID-19-related Tax Relief Act of 2020. Funds will be distributed to eligible Americans beginning on January 4, 2021.
Eligible taxpayers who filed 2019 and/or 2018 taxes with direct deposit will receive their stimulus funds in the bank account provided to the IRS. Others will receive a paper check or EIP debit card at a later date. If you receive a paper check, we encourage you to deposit your stimulus check remotely using our mobile app.
Commonly asked questions:
- When will I receive my Stimulus Check? Economic Relief Payments are scheduled to be delivered to eligible Americans beginning in early January 2021. You can check your eligibility and payment status at www.irs.gov.
- How will I receive my Stimulus Check? If you filed 2019 and/or 2018 taxes with direct deposit and are eligible to receive a stimulus check, you will receive your stimulus funds in the bank account provided to the IRS. If you did not elect direct deposit, you will receive a paper check at a later date. If you receive a paper check, we encourage you to deposit your stimulus check at a local branch or an Alltru ATM or from your phone using the Alltru mobile app.
- If I received a paper check for the last stimulus payment, will I receive a paper check again? Yes. If you are eligible for a stimulus check under the new bill, you will receive payment in the same form that you did last time.
- My account number has changed since I filed my taxes. What should I do? Unfortunately, you cannot change the account number the IRS has on file for you. If your account number has changed, your funds may be directed to another Alltru account. If you no longer have a membership account with the credit union, Alltru will return the deposit and you will be issued a check mailed to the address on your most recent tax return or as updated through the United States Postal Service (USPS). If your address has changed, visit www.usps.com to request a change of address.
- I’m not sure which account my stimulus payment is going to. Can you check? We are unable to see which account your stimulus funds will be deposited into until we have received notification of the incoming payment. If you are eligible for a stimulus check and filed your 2019 and/or 2018 taxes with direct deposit, your stimulus funds will be directly deposited into that account. Check your most recent tax return to see the account number you provided for direct deposit.
- The account that my stimulus payment is going to is closed. What will happen? If your Alltru account is closed or no longer active, your funds may be directed to another Alltru account. If you no longer have a membership account with the credit union, Alltru will return the deposit and you will be issued a check mailed to the address on your most recent tax return or as updated through the United States Postal Service (USPS).
At Alltru, we understand that COVID-19 has created uncertainties in our community. If you are experiencing a hardship, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can review your situation.
