In our blog posts, we usually give tips on how to best manage your money. While we will continue posting money management tips, this post will be a little different. 2024 was a doozy, and it’s left many people in our community in need, especially as we approach the end of the year. Our local nonprofits need help so if you’re able, we encourage you to do what you can this holiday season.
As part of our commitment to the community, we know that the time we invest into helping our local nonprofits goes a long way. For that reason, every Alltru employee gets 8 hours of paid volunteer time each month, to serve our community partners in a hands-on way.
This year, the Alltru crew served with several charities around St. Louis. One organization we worked with was KidSmart, whose goal is to empower children by providing free essential tools for learning. We organized the warehouse so more volunteers could build school supply kids for local teachers. Our team also spent a day with the St. Louis Area Foodbank in their Volunteer Center. We built food boxes for senior citizens and sorted food donations. In addition, our generous members and employees donated new school supplies for the Push for Pencils.
These are just a few of the ways that our Alltru family has decided to give back this holiday season. There are plenty of opportunities to give back locally. We encourage you to find a program that has a special meaning to you. Many local not for profits are accepting food, clothes, toys, and monetary donations. Even the smallest gift can give can make a big impact.
It takes all of us to build a stronger community and when you bank with Alltru Credit Union, you aren’t just opening a checking account or loan for yourself. You’re participating and investing in a not-for-profit community development cooperative that is deploying millions of dollars in accessible, non-predatory loans to families all over St. Louis. You are doing more than just banking. You are serving your community well.
All of us at Alltru Credit Union wish you and yours a happy and safe holiday season!
