Giving Back this Holiday Season

In our blog posts, we usually give tips on how to best manage your money but just like 2020, this post is a little different. 2020 was a doozy, and it’s left many people in our community hurting this year. Our local nonprofits need help so if you’re able, we encourage you to do what you can this holiday season.

As part of our commitment to the community, we know that the time we invest into helping our local nonprofits goes a long way.  For that reason, every Alltru employee gets 8 hours of paid volunteer time each month, to serve our community partners in a hands on way.

In November, the Alltru crew served Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis by putting together and delivering Thanksgiving meal boxes to more than 60 local families. In addition, our generous members and employees hosted a food drive for TEAM Food Pantry. In December, we were honored to donate toys to Mercy Hospital St. Louis Child Life Services. We also showed our appreciation for the Mercy Hospital frontline staff by dropping off some holiday goodies from our friends at Nothing Bundt Cakes and STL Pretzel Boys.

These are just a few of the ways that our Alltru family has decided to give back this holiday season. There are plenty of opportunities to give back locally – we encourage you to find a program that has a special meaning to you. Many local not for profits are accepting food, clothes, toys, and monetary donations. Even the smallest gift can give can make a big impact.

It takes all of us to build a stronger community and when you bank with Alltru Credit Union, you aren’t just opening a checking account or loan for yourself. You are participating and investing in a not-for-profit community development cooperative that is deploying millions of dollars in accessible, non-predatory loans to families all over St. Louis. You are doing more than just banking. You are serving your community well.

All of us at Alltru Credit Union wish you and yours a happy and safe holiday season!
