Frequent Questions About Our Name Change

For many years, we’ve existed as 1st Financial Federal Credit Union. A name that, while common and quite institutional, didn’t tell the story of us.

Alltru is a name that reflects our collective ownership and demonstrates our shared integrity. We are all in this together, just as we always have been. Just as we always will be. When you succeed, so do we, and our shared successes build a better community for us all.

Below are a few questions that you might have about our evolution to Alltru Credit Union.

No. We have not been sold or merged with another financial institution.  We are the same cooperative that we’ve always been.  We are simply changing our name to better reflect our mission and brand.

Your member number(s) and account number(s) will remain the same.

No, the routing number will not change. It will remain 281080739.

Absolutely! We have been a strong financial institution for over 50 years and continue to be. In fact, this re-brand will allow for continued growth and stability.

Yes. The new name isn’t about outgrowing our roots or moving away from the things that are important to our team and members, it’s about helping MORE people gain access to our needed products and services.

We put careful thoughtful consideration into this. We carefully timed it to align with natural depletion of many of our materials like letterhead, envelopes, and more. It also aligns with timing for many needed updates to our signage and branch materials.  The new materials are a sound investment in our future growth.

Neither your rates nor fees will be affected by the new name. Rates and fees do fluctuate, but they are adjusted in response to market conditions, not our name.

Our phone numbers will remain the same.  Our email addresses will still work for one year.  However, it’s probably best to begin using @alltrucu.org as our new email domain.  For example, hello@1stfinancialfcu.org will become hello@alltrucu.org.

Once we officially change our name, Alltru Federal Credit Union will be listed on the credit report with the addition of “formerly known as 1st Financial Federal Credit Union”. This will not affect your credit score.

If you use an outside Bill Pay service to make payments or you mail a check, we recommend that you update the Payee information to Alltru Credit Union by November 2020.

If you are set up for auto payments, those payments will continue being delivered as normal.

Your accounts are still insured by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government through the NCUA — National Credit Union Administration. The funds in your accounts at the credit union are insured up to $250,000.

You can continue to use your existing loan coupons. However, effective November 1, 2020 you should make checks payable to Alltru Credit Union. Your next batch will reflect the new name.

The look and color of online and mobile banking will change with our new logo and name. All functionality will remain the same.

You may need to perform an update on your app or refresh your browser to see the changes AFTER November 17, 2020.

There should be little impact to you as a member. Your member number(s) and account number(s) will remain the same, as will all your products and services.

Yes, you can continue to use your 1st Financial checks and deposit slips. When you run out of checks or deposit slips, your new ones will have the new name and logo.

We will continue to use the same website address: www.TheBetterWayToBank.org and you can also use www.Alltrucu.org. The website will look different after November 17th, but you will log into online banking exactly the same way and manage your funds exactly the same as you already are.

All direct deposits, payroll deductions, automatic drafts and other ACH services are transmitted using the Credit Union’s Routing number and your account number. Since these numbers have not changed, your payments should process without any change on your part.

This name change will not require a change in staff or board. They are the heart of who we are and how we serve our community.  The new name isn’t about outgrowing our roots or moving away from the things that are important to our team and members.  Alltru is our new name.  We will remain the same us.

Your current 1st Financial debit card will continue to work as normal.  Beginning in December 2020, when the card expires or needs to be replaced for any reason, you will be given a new Alltru card.

Yes!  You will still have access to over 5,000 nationwide branches and 30,000 free ATMs through the Shared Branch Network.

Right now, we only have plans to grow.  We do not have plans to close any branches but we would love to add more in the future.  We believe that changing our name will allow us to have better brand recognition and soon we will be able to add new branches to our local network.
