ST. LOUIS (May 24, 2024) – Alltru Credit Union, a leading Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) in the Greater St. Louis area, is inviting young community members to celebrate Juneteenth through their Juneteenth Heritage Award. The initiative, open to individuals ages 5 to 25, encourages participants to express their understanding of Juneteenth through various forms of creativity.
Participants are asked to submit creative work answering the question, “How do you celebrate your Juneteenth heritage?” Submissions can include spoken word, poetry, essays, dance, short films, TikTok videos, visual art, photography, music, and more.
A panel of community judges will select four outstanding entries, with awards totaling up to $1,600.
Heritage Award Details:
To enter, participants must submit a form of creative work that answers “How do you celebrate you Juneteenth heritage?”
Submissions are accepted in the following formats:
- Spoken Word
- Poetry
- Essay
- Dance
- Short Film
- TikTok
- Visual Art
- Photography
- Music/Song
- Other
Heritage Award Prizes:
- $100 for ages 5-10
- $200 for ages 11-13
- $500 for ages 14-17
- $800 for ages 18-25
Entrants must be between the ages of 5 and 25. One winner will be selected from each age group.
Submissions are due by 5pm CST on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
